Underpinning is the process of replacing, repairing or increasing the size of a buildings existing foundation whist the structure remains in situ.

Underpinning is typically required due to an increased load on an existing foundation often due to remodelling of a structure, or is required due to subsidence caused by poor soil performance around the existing foundation because of seismic activity or water washing out localised soils.

1M CIVIL ENGINEERING are experienced in underpinning foundations in various soil conditions including clays, sands and running sands.

We have undertaken underpinning in the Sand Banks area of Dorset where the water level, sand and the tide combine to continually wash out around the foundations of existing buildings.
